Benefits of hiring part time cleaners in Singapore

Ever felt that you needed someone to assist you with your household chores for a few hours? Perhaps the bathroom needs a good scrub and the laundry has been piling up? These factors should entice you to get a part time cleaner. Sourcing for a part time cleaner in Singapore is easy as pie, you may go through an agency or engage a freelance cleaner. The processing time is usually short (1-2 days) when engaging a cleaner via an agency.

However, do keep in mind that some freelance part time cleaners may be on social visit passes and are taking up these jobs illegally. Always check and make sure that your cleaner is working legally and supported by the required documents.

Here are some of the benefits of hiring a part time cleaner:

Flexibility

Time is money. The average working adult in Singapore spends about 40 hours a week in the office. Bearing in mind that transport duration would add another 5-10 hours to the total time spent away from home. After a long day at work and such, one would typically be too tired and worn out to do the household chores. A part time cleaner eases and solves these household headaches as her working hours are flexible. Schedule her for a few hours after your work or over the weekends and just relax in the comfort of your couch/bed.

Cost

The cost of hiring a part time maid in Singapore may deter people from engaging one. However by looking at it from a different perspective, it may actually prove cost efficient to some. If you only need her once a week, you would be paying for her cleaning services 4 times a month. In contrast to hiring a full time maid, you would be paying not only her salary, but also her living necessities, food, medical care and the government levy.

No Levy

As mentioned above, the levy is not needed when hiring a part time maid. A government levy is mandatory for employers of full time maids in Singapore. The levy is a pricing mechanism that regulates the amount of foreign works in Singapore. The monthly levy rate is currently at $265. By hiring a part timer instead, you will be saving on levy cost.

Experience

Most of the part time maids in Singapore have an abundance of experience. They have worked on houses, flats and even offices of various sizes. So rest assured, they probably know how to clean and tidy up your house better than yourself. Much effort and guidance would be needed for full time maids, especially first timers as they have no prior experience.

Less Responsibility Needed

Having a full time maid means that you would be responsible for her well-being. These include her accommodation, living needs, food and medical care should she need it. Less responsibility is need when you hire a part time maid. Only cleaning detergents and equipment are required from your side.

Privacy

Well where do we start? Everyone values their privacy, regardless of any age group. Having a full time maid is a commitment, much like having another member in the household. However, this comes with a drawback, and that is your privacy. With a part timer, you may enjoy your privacy after she is done with the cleaning, and everything goes back to normal after she leaves.

Off days/safety

Employers of full time maids often worry about the safety of their helper, especially during their off days. These may be due to the type of company the meet and mix with. My maid once brought her Bangladeshi boyfriend over to spend the night when my family and I were travelling overseas. Another time, she snuck out of house in the middle of the night when everyone else was asleep. We only found out about it when my mom wanted to give her specific instructions for the next day. These scenarios may sound farfetched but I assure you that this is the truth. With that being said, all these will never happen if you hire a part time cleaner.

No waiting period needed for transfer

If a particular part time cleaner does not suit you and your household, you can switch cleaners instantaneously. You may even try out different cleaners to find the most suitable one. Now that’s convenient you say! However, there is a slight difference when it comes to changing a full time maid. A waiting period is required for the transferring of full time domestic helpers, which may take a few days or even up to a few weeks.

“Auntie Li Zhen got rid of my worries, my family and I am really grateful to her. With her help during my confinement, I managed to rest well. Her nutrition-packed home-cooked food also helped me regain my health quickly. My baby boy is in good hands too. Most importantly, my hubby and I do not get any unnecessary stress with our firstborn.”
